IMO, I couldn't be happier with my steering. The only thing I wish for, is some new PS lines.. so they stop leaking.

It goes to show that magazines who love Bimmers love it for qualities not too many real world Americans care for. The instant familiar feel of the Bonneville, just-right ride, broad bucket seats (most Bonnes), throttle response, and high fuel economy chimes right in with what Americans want.

Gen 1 Magnsteer < Gen 2 Magnasteer in the post 2000 but I love having it. I refuse to park nose-in when parking in a parking lot and Magnasteer makes it WAY easier to navigate a large 4000 lb vessel at low speed.
I found parking a 94 GP SE in a space then backed mine in, amazing to feel the difference one after the other.
Funny how Magnasteer'd car owners love it (mostly) and non Magnasteer'd car owners dislkie it :?
Parking a 2 ton car with one or two fingers is great.

My family has a Magnasteer vehicle @ 3 tons... Trucks shouldn't turn so lightly.... Atleast not ones with an offroad package. When we were outwest on trails i found it hard to feel what the car was doing exactly in the corners. It'* great for parking and stuff yes, but not for edge of your seat driving.
Or Yukons just have a very disconnected feel to them. It'* the only real thing i'd change about the stock truck personally. But damn is it capable off road.

Our SSEi and GTP both have Magnasteer and its awesome IMO. At lower speeds (like under 10mph) it seems like it doesn't require enough effort to me, but I love how it stiffens up as you go faster. (moreso than a normal car) It seems to me like you can feel the road better. I would rather have magnasteer over the regular power steering I have in my GP and Calais.

Having owned a '93 SSE, a '95 SSE, and a '99 540i, I conclude that:
Both the Bonnie and the Bimmer are nice cars.
(What, were you expecting something profound? )

I've driven pleny of other ones as well. I don't mind my power steering at all. They just feel dead. :?
Yeah i know the Yukon is bad, but it'* a 98. I've driven a few of the newer 1500 and 2500 HD trucks and SUV'*, and those seem worse to me.
