Beaten by NoS
Last night I was out with some friends of mine from TAC.com. We were cruisin up the 400 doing roughly 110-120 kph. Now one of the TAC admins, Ian has a dark red 2001 Accord coupe V6 with a chip, intake, performance muffler and laughing gas. My 89 has better pickup then he does and a faster cruisin speed. Anyhow. I pull up beside him on the left and he does a little circle motion with his hand and steps on it. My reaction was a bit slow, but when I started to catch up...he took off, I had to do almost 170 kph to catch up...he was about 3 car lengths ahead of me. He more then likely sprayed. I cannot imagine getting that kinda jump for an Accord when you are already doing 150 kph or so.
The max revs I hit on the tach was 4200, he must have been doing way more....
If he didn't spray I have a new found respect for V6 Accords, if he did spray, then, it was an obvious loss....oh well, it was good fun

Torque is helpful...agreed. NoS is not for me tho...and I'm not much of a racer.
The thing I like about the cars in TAC, members there are totally against bad rice outs. Very few catfish skirts or 8 foot wings. And Ian is cool, when you get beat he is not the type to ride your a$$ and rub in your face like most. Accord owners are very different from Civic owners.

What type of chip does your friend ahve. Since it is the 2001 it has direct ignition so there is nothing he can do. On the models before '00 they can add a ecu piggyback or chip. And the Accord red lines at about 6500/7 grand.

I knew about the high redline esp. on the V6'*. I found out its a 1999, either that or the first year that the 6th gen was introduced. I'm almost 100% sure he'* chipped. Either way, its a fast little car. And one of the nicest looking Hondas. Better then those Civies

Well if it is a 98 or 99 then he could have a chip, any years after that they havent made any cuz its a waste of time. The redlines arent that much higher than ours. BUt definently a nice car. I miss mine all the time.
