Autotap or Autoenginuity...
Ok, so up until recently I was VERY happy with my Autotap purchase. I have had it for about 3 years and have never really been let down by it. That was until about 2 weeks ago... The Autotap'* inability to read the SIR system really bugs me. I figure that you spend $300 (current price) on a product (actually $350 when I purchased it with the GM enhancement pack), it should be able to read everything available.
The AutoEnginuity scanner can do case learns (from my understanding of their website), read the ABS and SIR systems and with a quick scan through the supported sensors/systems list, it can do MUCH more than the Autotap for what would have been only an extra $50 investment way back when...
Does anyone see any downside to this other than it'* price? I am seriously considering purchasing this... Let me know.

I have emailed both Autotap and AutoEnginuity with some questions to firm up my decision, but I think that I will be making the switch sometime shortly here. Possibly a combined Father'* Day and Birthday present this year! LOL

I want verification of the AutoEnginuity capabilities before laying down the coin. Plus, you can save yourself a few bucks by purchasing the interface through vendors on ebay, then buying the enhancement from their website.
I may just email their sales department and see what I can get being a Moderator on BlazerForum.com and writing a review for them... Every little bit helps! LOL

Well, here is the response from Jay at AutoEnginuity:
Very fast reponse too!
We have so much more coverage that comparing us is actually difficult. We have 2900 bi-directional controls while they have zero. We have Crank Learn and EVAP testing system tests while they have zero. We have support for 58 systems while they support one. Yes, we support body, chassis, and transmission systems as well.
For an example of our coverage go here:
http://www.autoenginuity.com/products-software.html
The crank elarn engine list is right there too. We do list he 3.8L engines.

comments: I currently have an Autotap ATUSB with GM enhancement pack. What additional features over this unit will the AutoEnginuity with GM enhancements give me? Will it allow me to read all Body (ABS & SIR included), Chassis and Powertrain codes? Will it allow me to do a case learn on my 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi (3800 Series 2 L67 supercharged motor)?
Thank you for your help and time!

True Car Nut
Wow! That looks like it is designed for true fanatics. It'* about time someone took care of the guys that are pushing the edge for themselves, but don't have the need or desire to spend $2500 to get these capabilities (from and Actron cabinet scanner or TECH2 tool). It will be interesting to see how well it works, as far as user interface, etc.
