Did you just put it over the top of the lens, or completely dismantle your hud like harofreak want'* to do?

Putting a tint film over the top will reduce light output of the HUD.
Also, getting just the right color to adjust it to the color you want would be difficult.

Not like I can really read my hud during the day anyways.....Sun'* to bright, and once winter comes and the snow here hits the ground.....I won't even know it'* there durring the day because it'* way to f'n bright out then. But it is to see though

But you're putting greenish (At least it looks green, I'm red/green colorblind) light trough a blue tint, You'll get... Hmm.. that would be like aqua or something. I wouldn't think you'd need to open the HUD Control Unit if you're just going to tint. The simplest way would just be to place a sheet of tint over the accessable portion of the output window.
