I think my advice would be this:

Be very careful and take EXTRA vigilant care of a 4T65E, and at the same time, be prepared for your first mechanical failure between 60-75k miles. If you want a Series 2 SSEi and don't plan on a PCM (other mods are fine), you might want to seriously consider a 1996 with the 4T60E(HD).

My LSS has been beaten to daeth and has 125K on it. I bought it with 107K. It is the FIRDT car in my family , not to have ONE problem in one year.

4T60-E will be rebuild with 92k. not sure exactly whats wrong inside, but it sure as hell isnt right.

p.*. you should change the voting categories. 4t60-e is in mine and its a 97 and i think it went up to 98'* also

Over 155,000 on my '97 SE, so probably a 4T60E, right?

Anyway, no trans failure yet, though it does make noise like slippage in 2nd. It has been flushed twice. Once at around 60K and just recently at about 150K.

97 4t60e non hd, it slipped on me once @ 68k, now at 73,600
