4T60E vs. 4T65E data collection!
Your fabulous Admins have a theory, so we'll see how this plays out. I had to configure the forum to accept more than 10 poll options for this one.
DO NOT VOTE IN THE POLL IF YOUR TRANS HAS NOT FAILED!
Let'* see how these two transmission models compare.
1. SELECT THE NUMBER OF MILES that you had your FIRST trans repair done by a shop for your particular trans. If your first trans repair hasn't happened yet, don't select an option. Simply reply with your current trouble-free mileage.
2. Post a reply in case you have multiple experiences, also detailing the miles for each incident, the type of car (as long as it'* one of these transmissions), and the type of failure if known.
IF YOU HAVE A 1996 SSEi, we're particularly interested in your data.
For the time being, we're not including the pre-92 (91) 4T60 non-E trans (440T4). We'll get to that data in another poll.

My data:
I have two 4T60E(HD) transaxles. The first failed at over 100k due to second gear clutches and a differential pin that broke. The other has over 100k and is showing no signs of wear or failure.

Not sure where to select. Technically, just under 100k, but, like 6 miles under 100k.
Failed 92 HD: 99994 miles
Burned clutches, snapped diff pin, failed torque convertor (nail in the coffin)
Current 92 HD: 48123 miles
Mid throttle shudder during shifts and slow accel in third, seems to just let go of any gear during light throttle 2-3 shift. May go in for a pre-emptive rebuild in the near future before I get stranded.

im not sure mine counts exactly, it was my 98 buick century with 60k on it, it happened to blow the differential apart days after doing some SEVERE tray sliding, as you can see, the diff pin fired out of the case
this is what i picked up off the ground...

99 Bonneville...65E (non HD) 130,000 miles and not a single issue. Not really beat on from torque, but more from abuse with towing. No aftermarket cooler.
On my previous car...93 SE....60E (non HD). Sold it at 187,000 with not a single issue on it, either. Didn't have a trailer hitch. No aftermarket cooler.
