1991 Caddy = :(

I was wondering, it can't be that hard to change a transmission, if you have another one rebuilt, would it be mostly lifting, pre-lubing, matching to the engine, pluggin everything that needs to be plugged, filling, and driving ? is this correct and how much is there to it ? because, it might be a feasible thing to do y'know.

I need you to do something for me when you have a chance...
Look at the spare tire cover or Trunk Lid for the RPO code listing on the Caddy...
Look for either ME9 or M13
At the same time look for F79 or F90
and let us know what codes you have...

After reading further.... The 4.9 made its power at about the same place the 3800 SC bonneville did... And the ratings for the 4.9 were 5 hp shy of the 3800 SC... If you look really close the trans for it has the same type of cooler that the Bonnevilles used... I'll bet that the trans behind the 4.9 was almost the exact same trans... Now we need to know which trans it actually was as some Caddies had the 4T60-E

Many of the 4.9'* did indeed have the 4T60E. A little know fact is that this CASE for the trans under the Caddy was beefed up. It is the identical case used for the 4T60E under the L67'*.
Yes, it'* true. From the factory, the L67 equipped cars with the 4T60 had a beefed up case. The L27'* did not. Neither did the L36'* from 95-97.
The cases are interchangeable, but nobody can tell me exactly WHAT was actually different. All AC Delco remans are based on the non-beefed up case, even if set up with the 2.97 ratio gearset.
