Patience pays off. Unfortunately patience is something I lack.. Feel free to mention if you see anymore of these crazy deals though!

It looks like the $7 belts are with any purchase, unless that is just the 4 pack? So I'll have to order something else from them at the same time. (Spark plugs or something)

8 rib belts go for $45 and up. Add it to a order and I believe they throw it in with no extra shipping.

While it'* a cool thing.. There shouldn't be a need for you to run an 8 rib. If you have slip..there'* a problem that needs to be fixed.

My motor rev'* much faster and hits hard. Never had slip before I put on the 8 rib. Why'd I put on the 8 rib? Because it was free except the belt. Dan may be feeling the $60 pain..I priced belts as high as $90 for a gatorback.

IMO I'm done with Dayco, Gatorback and all other belts that don't have the Gates name on them. A good friend suggested the Gates to me and as your friend, I'll do the same to you. These buggers literally look and feel like traction tape.

Yet, I never had slip running a 2.9" pulley on an intercooled Gen V setup with a cheap Dayco belt. Makes me wonder how much coolant etc was on your pullies.

Coolant or oil will make it slip, but that should clear up quickly. I got a deal on my 8 rib, and I like the WOW factor. Also, I had a noisy idler and figured if I need to change one, I may as well change them all to metal. And if I'm going to do that I may as well go 8 rib. If you have the cash and want to do it, then go for it. Otherwise, that money can go elsewhere, like headers, cam, or rockers.

Thanks for the advice Bill and Dan. Someones got to keep me on track, I think I may be suffering from A.D.O.L.A.M (Attention Defici..... Oh Look Another Mod!) I'll see about getting a gates belt from Napa for now, and maybe I'll stumble upon a great deal on the pulleys. I do need to focus on getting headers and HPTuner.

On the other hand, the new tensioner was spewing a bit of grease, I suppose some of that could have easily made it onto the belt as well. I'll check for that and try cleaning it up before I buy another belt.

Apparently I don't know how to read the gauge on the tensioner because it turned out it was barely tensioning the belt. I'm trying to figure out how the part numbers work so I can order the next size down in belt. I've got a K060739 right now. Could someone steer me in the right direction?

739 is 73.9" total length. You might get a 725 on there. We tried that here but didn't have much luck because that bolt was so stripped out.

From what I was reading I thought the belt should be 73.9", what was throwing me off is it says right under that 74-1/2" OC. That must be the outer circumference? So the 739 actually references the inner circumference? That would make sense.

Instead of a 725 then, shouldn't a 730 fit? I see rock auto has a K060730 for $25.79, with a discount code it should be less than what I can find in a parts store even with shipping.
