Sticky for Bonneville history?
I was thinking. It would be nice to have a compiled history of the Bonneville that illustrates the changes, upgrades and additions. This way, members and guests can have one thread to find out such information as when a supercharger was first introduced, when the plastic intake came and went, the first year of the HD tranny and when the SLE was added as a model, body style changes, etc. I believe that this would be an asset to those looking to purchase/upgrade a Bonneville or get an idea what to look for if interested in motor or tranny swaps.
My first thoughts were a yearly format such as the following:
1987- The first year of the front wheel drive Bonneville. This redesign utilized GM’* 3800 (LN3) which is an upgraded version of the 3.8 V6. This bumped the horsepower from 150 to 160. The available models were LE, SE and the SSE which included an aggressive suspension package and body ground effects.
1988 …
1989 …
1990 …
1991 …
1992- A new body style also brings forth a new level of performance to the Bonneville. The introduction of the L67 power plant gives the Bonneville 210 horsepower and 250 ft/lbs of torque. …
1993 …
Obviously this has not been fact checked yet and contains some errors, but you can get the general idea. Members can post facts that can be verified and they can all be compiled into a nice, neat sticky for all to enjoy. This might take a lot of work but I think that if we work as a team, we can accomplish the task.
