instant messaging/live chat
would there be a way for us to have realtime messaging so when we are going back and fourth in a thread you dont have to refresh the page or checking the new posts

Sorry, 2 strikes against it. vBulltin doesnt have a chat plugin worth a hoot. And Neither I nor the owner want to make this a do all catch all site,.... it'* a Forum, not MySpace/Facebook/YahooIM/Windows Messenger et al. A Forum that has its own dedicated servers that relies on itself and Forum management for control and stability. Pretty cool for a free/Ad free to members Forum. Chat also detracts from members posting in the Forum. We have the Lounge for off topic, General Chat for Bonneville related, and a gearhead section for experienced mechanics to work out issue'* and Tech write-ups. And our own Private Messaging. They all work in real time. You can also select to be notified by email when a new post is made to a thread you have replied to. I have been in quite a few Forums where Chats were brought on board and after the novelty wore off they were seldom used. Including this one with a former owner and PHP based software.

just thought I would see wht people thought, I didn't want it to just be chat just for w/e and being another facebook/ yahoo thing but part of the thread that would update in realtime when a reply was made so I could be on my "weird problems after installing SS M90 SC" thread and when someone replys it just pops up on my screen and the same for anyone else viewing the thread

WOW!.... Want fires with that??? I've never seen such a plugin. vB or PHP. LOL I leave my outlook express open and get a "ding" when a reply is posted to anything I've commented on.
