I have been looking and I do not see any information removed.
Maybe you can shoot me a PM on specifics and maybe I can restore the posts in question for people.

Okay, I'm not trying to perpetuate the problems that have happened, I just don't believe all the cards have been laid out on the table about the whole ordeal if a newcomer believes, based on what he has read here, that the old staff here were remiss in the performance of their duties. I believe this forum is back on track now and fences are being mended among all the parties involved, except for maybe the site flipper that fouled the nest and caused the trouble in the first place.
As long as the owner of this site is serious about maintaining the site in a manner that will benefit the automobile enthusiast community instead of being concerned solely with turning a profit, this site is already well on the mend.
I don't know, they're deleted. I don't have access to the archived database, backup files or any moderator privileges to even begin to find something like that.
I know for a fact that I made a few posts that aren't here now. When the site went down there was a gap of a couple of days between the last post I made and the last post of mine that is currently shown online.
From what I have read elsewhere about what went on here, "a few" accounts were wiped out completely, some people had their personal messages read with some even getting modified or deleted, etc.
From what I have read elsewhere, the deletions were tailored to favor the second owner. On the auction site where he listed this forum at auction, he admitted that all he wanted to do was to flip the site for a profit. All his actions were about making money with no regard to what is best for the automobile enthusiast community. The results of his actions proved the truth of this when the community at large moved on to another site and he shut this one down. I have no idea if there was malicious intent or not, but there were definitely deletions. I was here (and all the other Bonneville sites that I know of) for the whole sordid affair and I can say with absolutely no bias that the old site staff here were among the finest anywhere on the net. For a newcomer that doesn't know how it was before to say differently doesn't settle well with me and it doesn't do much toward mending the aforementioned fences.
And that'* all I've got to say about that.

As for myself, I think this forum should have been upgraded to a better format like this a long time ago. This is much better as far as features and user-friendliness. I am unhappy that it took the disastrous circumstances that occurred to bring about the change. I'm sure there is plenty of bandwidth on the interweb for everyone that wants a Bonneville forum to have one, but it'* going to make it more difficult for people to get help with their cars to have the Bonneville community split across several domains. It is tough enough for most people to find the time to monitor one site, let alone several. But this one is the original...

Original, but most certainly not the best. There are other sites out there 100% dedicated to the Bonneville that have a much greater knowledge base. There really isn't a large amount of mechanical knowledge here, as all of the former gearheads have left to one of the other sites. Without the gearheads and their vast knowledge of these cars, all there is here is a database in which some of the information is old, outdated, and hard to find.
The gearheads are basically what kept this site running in the first place. Most of the members here joined up because they had mechanical or electrical problems that they couldn't figure out on their own. Other people were interested in performance.
PMs here are STILL being read, they are no longer "private messages", but rather public messages.
To have people get banned over simply letting people know that there is other places out there is ridiculous. People come here for help and knowledge about their cars, why deny them of that?
I figure I will be banned also after this post....
I can assure you that this is not the case. The old staff put their heart and souls into this site to make it what it used to be. Countless hours were spent each day here keeping this site in line and making things run smoothly. I can not tell you how many times we have had people come here, join up, then praise the way that the forum was run, and that it was the best run, and cleanest forum that they have ever seen. This is the way the other two Bonneville sites are currently run. The old staff left to another site, along with most of the members because the previous / second owner didn't want to work with anyone. He paid a price for that mistake though.

There are more, but the current search settings make it difficult to find anything.
I ask that you please dig a little deeper into this forum before insulting the previous staff again. Like I said before, sooooo much blood, sweat, tears, and LOVE went into making this site as glorious as it was it isn't even funny.

Ads are not even being shown to members. So if you sign in, no advertisements.

Posts going missing because staff was not representing the site the way the owner felt was appropriate is another situation. Frankly, I would move posts that a moderator has made if they weren't for the public eye, they would be moved to the staff section. I DO know this is the case for many posts as I have read a number of them. I can’t say Jeff or Peter were in the wrong and I can’t say for certain there is more missing. Really, I don’t care. At this stage I am trying to have everything move forward in a positive manner.
Accounts wiped out. Any idea which ones? I mean, I received an email the other day from a guy saying his account was deleted and low and behold, it was all still there. I know people believe or were told accounts were indiscriminately deleted, but which ones?
Personal Messages being read? Well, the site owners have every right to do that, it'* their site. Accessing the SQL database to skim over a message is not hard. I am sure if anyone is reading messages there is a valid reason to do so. Right or wrong just depends on which side of the fence you are sitting on I suppose.
Was Peter doing that, maybe I don’t know. Was there any logs to show he was or software on vbulletin side to indicate he was, no. Could he have been doing it from the black screen, yes. Does it really matter, no.
I wish I knew what made everyone think he was reading messages or what would give him the motivation to do so, oh well, Peter is out.
The site was locked because he was working with others to use this as an archive. This is exactly what I was told by a former staff member here who is now a staff member there. Sounds like Peter was interested in keeping this place alive.
I have also received a proposal to permanently shut this site down. Lock it, disallow people posting. I don't believe this is in the best interest of this site or community, so it'* not happening.
The irony is, the key point is I get to lock it and saturate the site with ads. When I read that I just laugh at how the ads were not good for members then, but as long as BonnevilleForum isn’t attracting new members we can spam the old ones with ads, contradiction.
I think people need to know I didn’t buy this site to may for my bills, I don’t need the money.
I on the other hand came here under the impression everyone has left, not 1 user remained. So, for me to clean up around here isn't so bad. I don't delete accounts, I just close them. I am not interested in disrupting the flow of the community.
As for myself, I think this forum should have been upgraded to a better format like this a long time ago. This is much better as far as features and user-friendliness. I am happy with BonnevilleForum as I believe many more are and I have no intention of flipping it or destroying it.
What everyone keeps over looking is that one of your own sold the site to what you call an outsider. I have been a member of forums before and I always wonder why an owner would not try and sell to the users..... At this stage it doesn't matter but I believe the gripes should go farther up the ladder elsewhere
I mean, I know you're trying to rile people up but to make claims like that is just crazy. Not to say I can't read. I mean, sure, give me SQL access for any site, who can't read it. Can it be done on any forum, 100% yes by people with access. Do I personally sit here and read YOUR PMs, no.
That being said, why would Peter or myself want to read PMs? Give me a reason to, who knows; maybe it will become a hobby
It is a possibility. I am far more unpredictable than Peter. LOL
I can assure you that this is not the case. The old staff put their heart and souls into this site to make it what it used to be. Countless hours were spent each day here keeping this site in line and making things run smoothly. Again, the picture looks painted differently depending on where you are looking at it from. All I know is that the people Peter was dealing with were impatient and being difficult and they were dealing with someone who wasn’t necessarily about the community and was making decisions based on monetary gains.
Lucky for the community, Peter is gone then, right?
There are more, but the current search settings make it difficult to find anything.
I ask that you please dig a little deeper into this forum before insulting the previous staff again. Like I said before, sooooo much blood, sweat, tears, and LOVE went into making this site as glorious as it was it isn't even funny.

to an outside casual observer, this looks like a very dramatic time for some, when in all fairness, all they should be concerned about is using this board for what it is:
To pass time, gain friends, exchange information and allow other enthusiasts to build on each and every members' personal experiences with their Bonny...
it'* a shame several personalities are impacting the viewpoint of many people, when given the situation, those individuals should be allowed to make a personal decision on their actions...
it is for the betterment of the community when freedom is expressed and given... instead of deploying tactical measures of lies and deceit in order to come to a favourable outcome...
I feel bad for Peter, that he had to put up with the spin doctors that are at play here.
