Overdrive Alternator Pulley from ZZP
I'm still having issues with the alternator/battery on Knight Fire.
I have a voltmeter in the car now (actually sometimes two, one analog one digital) and sometimes (esp @ night) when I'm stopped at a light, waiting, it will dip from 13v down to like 10-11 volts. Everything in the car goes very dim, my turn signal blinks extremely slowly, and even when I hit the gas to move again, you can feel a very small delay. Almost seems like the car wants to stall out...... but it hasn't yet.
I notice that if I take my foot off the brake, I get 0.5v back, but not much unless I rev the engine a wee bit.
So I was looking at getting an alternator overdrive pulley from ZZP.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these pulleys?
Thanks
PS-I already have the alternator rewire kit from ZZP, it does almost nothing

The pulley is only part of the game. A beefed up rear bearing (needle bearing just like our SC rotors use) and beefed up internals are the rest of the game.
The best advice I can give you from my experience and others here, is to get an alternator from www. mralternator.com and an Optima red top.
End of all issues for me. And mine were similar.

Ugh that makes me ill..... the 160amp from them is like $200 something USD.
My alternator is brand new... the only one died a few months ago while I was in backwoods NS..... so I had to pay $500 CDN for a dealer alternator.... it'* the highoutput dealer... but still.
I wonder if there is any place I could buy "upgrade" parts for the alternator..... or maybe a place to take it to get beefed up.

i had this same problem, but my battery would go down to 8 volts. That would be with the brake, lights, and ac/heater on LOW. I had the radio off. That led us to get a new battery. The battery was it. I would try getting a new one first, no matter if people say it is good.

That'* a thought... the one in the 91 is off an ambulance or something... I'm pretty sure it'* over 200amp. But I'd like to fix the problem in the 97..... instead of moving it to the other car. The 91 also has the larger stereo.... in which moving the alternator could cause more problems then it solves.

I just think I may have too many gadgets running in the car.
Also one thing that I am thinking.... I might have to reprogram the PCM a bit because of the new cam.... she idles odd now, and I know there is a setting in the PCM to turn on/off the alternator based on rpms..........hrm :?
