High beam "activator?" not working. Switch and rod
My high beams stopped working. I thought it was the switch but if I push the rod that activates the switch they turn on and off. The part that broke is the plastic peaice attached to the blinker lever that pushes the rod. Get me?
The blinkers still work but the lever moves freely back and forth. Usually there is some resistance (the lever pushing the rod into the switch. ) It looks like a peice of plastic did break off where the rod meets the lever. Easy fix or no? Please advise.

My understanding is that'* a pull apart of the column to replace the switch. But I've never been there experienced that and could be wrong.

That is the exact peice that come out of mine except mine is covered in some orange grease. I can see all the wires that connect to the blinker and everything because the "trim" around that side of my steering column had broken off a while ago. I just dont have the means to take a photgraph.

Yep!!
Off with the airbag, wheel, SIR coil, Turn signal switch, Ign key cylinder,
multi function switch lever housing, and finally.... You'll see where this piece fits.
look for the grease....
It only works in one position.....
Opposite the way you have it in the pics, is the way it goes against the column.
Large Curved edge, towards the floor.
The Multi Function lever, presses against this piece, which "floats", above and against the
spring (# 45) and against the side of the steering column.
Easier to see than explain.
Use a piece of masking tape to hold it in position, while you reassemble the surrounding parts( all of which could fall out of position as you reassemble)
.....I had to do it 5 times, before I got angry enough to go get some tape.
The masking tape can remain forever... if you like.
Don't try Duct tape...tho...it'* too strong.
Good luck, and please don't try doing this without a manual for your own safety.
There are procedures for disconnecting and handling the airbag, (Page 3F3, and 3F4)
which must be followed, or it could go off in your face, doing serious damage..
