Front power window failure
The front window on my 95 Bonn wont go down. It makes a clicking sound when powered. I took the door panel off to check the motor/regulator...and the motor seems to me to be working just fine....the lil teeth/gear on the end works but wont engage the big gear behind the window channel... Any ideas? suggestions? thanx... Mike

It could be bound up (aka loosen bolts) or need to be greased. (uh.. search..I think Archon was the author)
Or ..it could simply be an old tired motor and need to be replaced.

Not sure, honestly we have such a low failure rate on window motors that you may even have trouble finding an answer through using the search feature. It'* worth a try though.

I'm not familiar with the '95 design. This is a picture of "the big gear" on a 2000 rear window regulator. Is yours similar to that?

With those, the small gear on the motor slips in the middle of that large gear and all the teeth mesh together. Are all the teeth in good shape on yours? Does the motor turn freely, but there'* no movement of the window when it'* put together, or does the motor not turn? If the motor doesn't turn when reinstalled, check out this thread by Bob Dillon and see if that helps.

The window mechanism on my 95 looks totally different than the one in the pic. When I had the motor off and powered up, the gear on the motor spins ..But when I reinstall it...I'm not sure if the gear isn't engaging into the big gear behind the bracket/brace or just spinning.... I can hear clicking sounds like it'* trying.....I've greased the window parts already... still no luck..

You should be able to hear a whirring or similar sound from the motor if it is spinning, or feel the vibration. How do the teeth on the gears look? Are any stripped or broken? Did you grease the motor as per the link to Bob Dillon'* post?

The motor is making a whirring sound and the teeth on the gear all look good with none missing or broken off. I've greaded all parts too. Still wont work/engage. Just makes a clicking sound.

How is the gear attached to the motor? Could the motor shaft be turning without turning the gear once it'* under load? If that'* not the problem, we'll have to wait until someone familiar with the window regulator for your vehicle generation to jump in.
