Compass Spot Ideas...... (getting rid of the compass)
I've been having problems w/ my compasses in both my cars.
I know the problem w/ the 91 is the three 10in subs, and I've already relocated the compass.... but I hate having to reset the thing every few days.
The 97s compass works fine, for the first 15mins of driving, then goes to "calibrate". If you calibrate it, it'll work for around a 1/2hr or more. If you don't, it will reset it'* self and start working after 20mins or so. And then will read calibrate after another 15mins.... very annoying.... and I have no aftermarket audio equipment in the car to fudge it up.
Since my sense of direction is pretty good.... I was wondering if anyone here has replaced the compass w/ something else.... or has any ideas that might work?
I was thinking LCD screen, but it'* a really tiny area, and I could see problems w/ the circuit board of the dash and depth of the LCD.
Any other ideas? Lets brainstorm!

I was thinking of the same thing months ago for my 90. I thought of a small LCD screen and replace the side view mirror with a camera. The problem I found is that the compass display is not in a very easy to view location. It'* partially blocked by the steering wheel. Plus, the image would be so small it would nearly be useless.
Use it as a frame for a picture of your other Bonneville

Tiny LCD screen to link up to a camera in your rear bumper for when you're backing up in tight areas and don't wanna bump something. May be a small area for something like this but it could be benificial.

Anyone else got any good ideas?
harofreak..... yea that might be worth a try.... PM me w/ what you want for it.
As for the backup video camera suggestions.... the coolest one I saw for those was a vanity mirror, that was a TV/mirror... so normally driving it was a mirror.
If the car was in park.... it was a TV/LCD for your DVDs/consoles etc.
If the car was in reverse, it displayed the view from a tiny tiny camera from the back of the car.
The whole kit cost $1200 Cdn installed.... which is pretty sweet..... IMHO

Yah, but that'* way expenmsive though, still quite a bit US currency. I don't remember the exchange rate...but probably around 900-1000 for that kit american.

rear view mirror runs around 400+, camera runs around 80+, then if you want to throw the dvd player in its around 100+. I was thinking about doing that but its a little too high priced for the mirror, and the screen in most mirrors isnt that big. The mirror monitor is pretty cool though.
