Jason, tell me more about the fact that Silver Star headlamps aren't exactly known for long life? That'* news to me. I've had mine installed for over 2 years now without a problem, and I'm unaware of any early failures amongst the members here using them.

yup same here 2 years+ in the low beams and never burnt one out yet *knocks on wood* the only problems with the silverstars are in the fog light bulbs

and my SS lights were brighter than my stockers, prolly because they were the orignal lights from 93 still in the car

but it also makes a difference in how the light is aimed too

There are many threads that you've participated in personally on this. Many of them were focused on fog lights and such, but they're still the same basic bulb.

I wasn't comparing european quality to american quality, i'm saying they just have different versions. e.g. They have a 280HP AWD Focus. We get 160 hp FWD right now as out top. I wasn't aware that Xtravisions were the european SS.

No, they're not basically the same bulb. Silver Star fogs do have a propensity for early failure in our application, but the headlights do not. Grouping them into the same category isn't a good thing. Foregoing the obvious light performance gain of the SS headlamps because of a quality problem with their H3'* isn't fair to our members.

The design and application is quite different.

I don't use SS fogs because of the problem. I buy the generic Sylvania 100W H3'* for that very reason. I wouldn't hesitate to buy SS headlamps, though.

which silverstars will work for our cars ... specifically a 93. I found this page http://www.partsamerica.com/SelectPa...chFor=Headlamp that listed silverstars but I wasn't sure which type will fit our cars and which ones are the best
