The shaft of the solonoid... forgive my ignorance, but what/where is that?

Also, yes I checked the lock-out/valet switch in the trunk. I've hit it before, but when it'* on(locked out) Will'* right... it doesn't make any noise.

His fuse has to be good. It'* trying to open electrically, but binding mechanically.

The solonoid is on the latch portion of the trunk lid. Mounted transverse. Black plastic, with a 2-pin connector going to it. It pulls the jaws of the latch open.

So... it'* been about a week now; is it still stuck?

If so, does it help if you push down on the trunk lid while pressing the button? Maybe take some of the load off the latch that way...

Heres my suggestion. Remove the solenoid assy, it is held on with (2) hex screws that can be seen when the trunk is open and lid liner is out of the way. Then hit the remote button. See if the slider with the tab moves. If it doesnt something internal is broke. If it does, then the problem is where it meets with the lock latch. Maybe the tab fell out of its location on the latch, and now will not release the lock.

My solenoid went bad, where I had to hit the button 2-3 times to get the trunk to pop. But it made an aweful screeching noise. The solenoid assy is about $25 at the dealer. I was just at the bone yard too and saw one that looked to be in good condition, I was going to pick it up to have a spare...

That'* a good idea... I'll check that tomorrow.

The car is going in on the 5th anyways to have the bumper repaired from when I get rearended.... I'll mention the latch too.... the hit might have caused it to stop working

If you got rear-ended, it can easily cause a mechanical binding problem that the strength of the solonoid cannot overcome. This is a bodyshop repair.
