Annoying chiming!!! Need help!!
94 Booneville SE
About 1 month ago I headed out for work and there was several inches of snow on the roads. My traction kicked in when I spun. And like always the dash chimmed.... no big deal right... well it didn't stop!! The next time I started the car it was fine.... however it has started doing it again....now it chimes no matter what I do and it doesn't stop chimming until I turn the car off. Any ideas?

Hey Ryan,
Thanks for the quick response. I checked it and it was slightly low. I filled it up and it continued to ding.... I forgot to mention in my orginal posting that the brake light is on! So the low fluid level is the problem is it posible that it threw a code for that and I just need to reset the computer some how to fix the problem?

Chiming with a brake light is a combination you don't want to ignore. It'* generally an indicator of a bad master cylinder. Be VERY CAREFUL with this one.
Inspect the MC very carefully for leaks between it and the brake booster. ABS and traction will NOT set a brake light or chime. This is your default braking system telling you something is horribly wrong.

One other thing to check out also...
Make sure that your emergency brake pedal isn't pushed down at all. Even one click down will cause a constant dinging and a brake light on the dash.
It seems that on my '93 the pedal is in just the right place for me to hit it all the time and not notice it untill I start driving and it is dinging like crazy. It took me MONTHS to get used to that and avoid it

Ok well hopefully some good news! This morning I drove to work no light, and no chimming!!! So hopefully it was just the fluid level......I pressed the brake pedal several times with the car off and with the car on and never could find a leak anywhere. Never smelled brake fluid. I also have a solid pedal. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, I will continue to check the fluid level and be more aware of any puddles in the garage.
THANKS AGAIN!

I was having the same problem and unhooked the reservoir lever sensor and the light went away as well as the chime. The fluid level is fine and no visible leaks from the MC. I think it was a bad sensor. I will keep you all posted if this changes...
