Alternator, is this a cs144 model? w/ pics.
Anyone have any idea if this is a CS144 model alternator? I found two at the wreckers for $10/ea today when my CS130 pictured right started to squeal from the bearings. From what I can find on the net its a CS144. Maybe someone here has what they know is a CS144 and can verify. I want to rebuild the one in the pic if its a CS144. Otherwise what I put in from the wreckers today is doing me just fine right now until I rebuild the CS130 with bigger better parts. I like the CS144 idea though, 140amps and better cooling.
So here is what they look like, as you can see one is for sure bigger than the other. And in the back end has completely different rectifiers with some good heat sink area.
The one I put in the car, had a sticker on it that said rebuilt July 2006. Not too shabby. The one in the pic... no sticker who knows. Gets new insides if it is what i think it is. It would be nice to have a reliable spare on hand.

It looks like my 160 which was built off a 140, and also like the 140 on my other Bville. I'd be very careful about belt offset though. I had belt issues in 2004 because my offset was off by about .050".
