93 SSEi Wipers stay on all the time
The wipers on my Bonneville suddenly began staying on all the time now. The wiper delay works as do the speeds. The control clicks in the off position but the wipers remain going.
Is this a wiper/turn signal replacement issue or is it a computer problem somewhere?
Thanks for your help and suggestions! Chuck

Sounds like the switch is going bad. Try to find a replacement from the junk yard.
This should be what you need.
AIRTEX Part # 1S4716
SSE, SSEI Models
$97.89 new from Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto

Dan,
If you're still watching this, would it help to know that the problem began when the wipers froze to the windshield in the "on" position and wouldn't retract when the car was shut off. They released when the car was unfrozen a few days later and from that time they ran continuously. Thanks again for you help, Chuck

Literally, my son let the wiper blades freeze to the windshield having left the wipers turned on when he turned the ignition off. He didn't un-stick them when he got back in the car the next day or so later and when they did break loose after the windshield warmed up again, they kept running even though the wiper switch on the turn signal lever was in the "off" position.
If it is the switch, as you say, would that be the turn signal switch which has the cruise control button, wipers and mist, and the turn signal switch on the steering column? The first picture I was sent of the part I needed didn't look anything like that.
Thanks, Chuck

Not sure why all the highlighted words in my last reply, but thanks for your help. I'll go after the switch the next chance I get. Appreciate your time! Chuck
