2001 Bonneville SSE Windshield Washer Pump Control
The windshield washer does not work on my 2001 Bonneville SSE.
The windshield washer pump receives 12V when the washer button on the steering column is pressed, but does not receive adequate current to run the washer pump motor. I am seeing only 0.5 amps. The washer motor runs correctly when supplied 12V from the battery. The wipers also work correctly. Connections to switch on steering column, wiper motor, and washer motor have been checked. The weak 12V is seen at the washer motor for exactly how long the button is pushed. The relays in the wiper motor control unit (attached to the wiper motor) can be heard activating when the button is pushed, and deactivating after short delays.
I am currently assuming a bad relay for the washer pump, which I am also assuming to be part of the wiper motor control unit. Is this correct, or is there a separate relay located somewhere?
I would prefer not to find out I was wrong after replacing the wiper motor.
