For those of you with leather and dogs

How do you keep the dogs' nails from puncturing the leather? I'm SO nervous about letting our 82 lb. Golden Retreiver in our Buick because I don't want the leather to look like Swiss cheese. There must be a way to prevent damage.

Petco sells real/fake sheepskin seat covers with rubber backing. Cut to fit.
I tuck it in the back, wrap over the front edge, and tuck it under the front. It stays put.

I just run mine through the dryer on warm with a dryer sheet or two to get the hair to release. But then again, Bo has really short hair. He also stays put on his side of the car, so I only have to cover half the rear seat.
Make sure you get your seats well lubed/protected a day or two before you put it in. On hot days, the rubber backing MIGHT try to stick to he leather (not life-threatening, but a PITA.....happened to me once last year).
