Paint peeling off 89 SE
i have paint peeling off my 89 bonnie,i saw this defect on several other GM products in the late 80'*?..is it true..
and can anyone direct me in the right direction to fix it?

Yes, most (if not all) late 80s GM clearcoats have a problem with peeling off after being exposed to the sun, road debris, salt, etc for a number of years... Unfortunately, the best thing to to would be a repaint. I believe trying to fix it up would be too much work... I tried it... not as easy as it may seem. Sorry to dissapoint you.

GM paint wasn't the best back then unfortunatley. Clearcoat especially was a problem. If you have a lot of paint peeling off, and more than just clearcoat, I'd get it done professionally. If you only have some small areas peeling, you may be able to save a few bucks and try it yourself. Good luck.

once I have the cash, i'm going to buy a polisher and some megs pads with some medium abrasive polish, and just polish off all the clear, it looks like **** where the clear is, and it looks quite good where it isn't, so, but on the sides and stuff looks awesome. Oh well, guess cosmetic stuff is always last on my list.
