i got my stock cobra head on too, its great, i like the longer throw.

from what i have read here, yes the 96-99 did have a longer boot then the 92-95

its not that bad, hell my original T shifter has that same size gap, youll get used to it fast if you cant fix it

its more of that the shaft is longer on the pre-cobra cars..... i bought one and used it for a bit. and its been retired to my glovebox with the t-shifter back on..... i really liked the feel, i just didnt like it sitting so high, and the gap.... BUT looks good fellow 92'er

Looks great John -actually does look better in your car than mine.

Actually, 1995-1999 had a 'short shifter'. The shaft was shorter, but the boot was the same.
Now it'* time for me to post pics of my new shifter setup.

DJ..the slight angle is normal. Put your elbow on the console..slide forward til your hand meets the shifter with your open palm facing the drivers seat. It'll fit right into your hand...
