Custom leather shifter boot

Custom leather shifter boot
That'* right, REAL leather, not that fake stuff. The problem I had was with the 2000 shifter I installed, the 2000 boot was too short to stay in the console. It would pull up occasionally.
So I cut some leather, and made a longer one. I can retire the fake leather (vinyl) boot that our cars come with stock. This is the new one installed (I haven't used leather conditioner on it yet):
And where did the leather come from?
Never throw away an old leather jacket. You never know when it might come in handy. I have the old vinyl 2000 shifter boot in my right hand in this pic. The seam you see in the first pic above is the center vertical back seam from the jacket.

Very classy! Is there enough left from the jacket to do...........oh...........say..............6 or seven more..............can you say "WCBF05 sewing circle?"

Funny thing is it only took about 15 minutes. Only a 3-beer job. It'll be better when I get it re-attached under the console, and get some conditioner on it. It'* been bugging me ever since I switched shifters early last year.
These 2k+ shifters are unique, in that the boot actually covers up the bottom part of the shifter handle itself.
I still prefer this shifter over all the other types. Very ergonomic, short press to release, and classy looks.
