I'm expect you might be right about matching the material. I couldn't even find the thinner material for the sail panels (C pillar), so I had to use the thicker material all over.
Jerry, it looks like I am now going to have "sub-projects" in this project. In addition to trying to match the wine color I have started receiving swatches of fabric I ordered and they're nothing like that which I am replacing. In fact, they sort of have a "grandpa'* old pajamas" look with designs woven into them. The search is on but a dad-burn rock took out one of my bumper fillers last week and I just received the replacements so my attention is temporarily diverted from yard goods.
I had such a hard time with the color. Even the interior looks more red vs maroon depending on the lighting. My first choice (roll In front of faded headliner) took on such a purple hue inside the car it was unusable to me. The dark tint on my car might have made it harder for me too.
I hadn't really put much thought into the shades of colors available and how difficult it could be to get that right. It'* probably becoming a lost art with all of the throw-away cars today.
