04 Bumper cover
Needless to say, winter has not been nice. Long story short, some serious snow drifts broke my front bumper cover- now there is only the top half of the cover left. My options are to either replace it or try to get creative with fiberglass. I did some looking online and a replacement from a scrapyard would be about $150 -ish, then I'd have to paint it. That is the easy option.
I have only used fiberglass once to construct a custom sub box for the Bonneville. It took some time, but I enjoy a good project. However, I don't know if it will be practical to try to make a custom bumper. I would have to build it off the top half of the cover and I don't know how well fiberglass will adhere to it, as well as how strong it will be. When I made my sub box, I covered it with carpet. This project would require a lot more work to make a smooth paintable surface. And I don't know how many layers I would have to use- therefore I don't know how much it might cost me.
Any input or fiberglass experiences would help. Thanks

Getting the lines just right is gonna be tough, even with Bondo its tough to get a perfectly smooth surface, I think for the time it would take to get it right plus materials and all it would be easier to get a used one painted that way you don't have downtime and all you have to do is just swap the bumpers when you get the painted one back

Junkyards would have to order it. Looks like ebay has unpainted units for about $150 + about $85 shipping. Not bad, just paint it and call it a day.
Although a custom bumper sounded cool in my head, I imagine it would end up costing a lot more than a replacement part. Plus, there is a good chance the final product would end up looking goofy on the car.
