Sometimes you can find videos on Youtube of people doing reviews of them.

i did watch those, hard to tell but from those it really seems much faster than windows based computers. was reading chrome is linux based, which normally ends up not having all the unnecessary fluff of windows and IE

I currently have an Asus T100 and enjoy it. 10.1" netbook that breaks away in to a tablet when you want it. Full windows 8.1 too.
It seems like mobile OS'* may be picky when it comes to running flash, and I always feel there is compromise. Even on a Nokia Lumia 1020, a flagship phone, it is beginning to show this.
Another friend of mine runs these t100'* on the front lines for media consumption, and loves them. Battery life is lovely, and I can't express enough how much I prefer a full windows loadout. Plus, it pulls it weight around pretty strong. At one point, youtube was going at 1080p on a TV connected as a second monitor, virus scan, and web browsing were all going on at once, and it was pulling strong, rarely skipping or stuttering anything (only hiccup was when the video was first starting)

thats when microsoft starts to feel laggy and fat, they make you get the updates to stuff and all that builds up. my android phones have all worked perfect from day one till they push some update, which i try not to do. i think if it was a tablet you wouldnt have to worry about the updates. its mostly the cell carrier pushes that screw things up.
I think it will boil down to what i can get a good deal on, that i feel is a good value/fit for me. there are a few HP man refurb regular windows 7 laptops on ebay i am considering too now.

I would however suggest windows 8 if you plan to use a touchscreen. The support in windows 7 for touch seems like an afterthought, but i have windows 7 and 8, and no real complaints either way.

they had that same chromebook out to play with at bestbuy, it seems just as fast as they make it out to be. the display seems a little small though.

so i ended up ordering a windows 8 HP, chrome was cool and fast, but the little acer that was the only reasonable one the display was too small and cheap looking. the chromebooks with nice displays were as much as a normal laptop so it mad more sense just to get a normal one so you have that other photo functionality and that.
