Now if I want to play something on console I just use one of my emulators, I have pretty much every old game, on most every platform, well all of the old consoles that is, no X-Box or PS4 emulators..

Unless you have a giant monitor you aren't going to get higher than 1080P, which on most average size gamer preferred 21"-24" monitors the native resolution is 1920x1080, so you really cannot get any higher resolution unless you get a bigger monitor that supports a higher than standard 1080P HD native resolution.

Ha ha Jason, I hear that man, that is a slick looking rig for 250.00!
If any of you guys want to build a new rig feel free to come to me for budget part suggestions, I provide all of my friends with help when building rigs, or selecting parts, all I need to know is a budget, and what the primary usage of the machine will be for.

Art, rutt roh, smoke is NOT good!
I hope it was only the power supply, if so luckily they are easily replaced, hope you get that fixed ASAP!
Would post a little more here, but this morning I found out I lost a good friend/old gaming buddy I have known for years, he lost his battle to cancer on the 18th, and was laid to rest on the 23rd, so I am a bit at a loss for words at the moment.

Really Sorry to hear that William. Loosing friends is not easy. My Condolences.
Take it easy for a while ok..

I hope it also is just the power supply too William. Computer was running ok when I pulled the plug, so hopefully it did not have a chance to over volt anything. Will know more next week when I buy another PSU. It was just a cheap back up tower anyways.
I've got a Corsair PSU in my main tower that is also getting old. I may upgrade it in the future. I am afraid to ask how much that will cost. About the only thing I will keep is the Viper Case & The PSU. TH GPU is GForce 9800GT. Gives u an idea I need more than some new power in the tower!!!

Thanks Art, yeah it is tough, I'll get through it though.

It does sound like you will need to upgrade everything, I had a 9800GT years back, a good card for its time, but it is due for an upgrade for sure.
Also the PSU may have to be upgraded as well, depending on the wattage, and mainly the amperage available on the 12v rail(*).
For those that already have the case, mouse, keyboard, and monitor, I have been able to put together builds for around 800.00 to 900.00, they would be AMD CPU builds, but would be decent gaming rigs for the money.
For a good Intel system you will spend a little more, but that is my preferred CPU.

one of my more interesting instructors used to say these things work on FM and are powered by smoke, because if you "let the smoke out" it will not function any more. lol
