tempreture gauge

Hmm, that is weird, I searched Nalley Buick Parts, and put in his year, and the name listed for the diagrams I posted say "ENGINE ASM-4.3L V8 " then I see (L99/4.3W) is that not the engine he has?
I do see it says 5.7 also, maybe that means the part works for both, but the diagram used is not actually the 4.3L V8, if that is the case I am not sure why it says what it says..
Attaching a pic so you can see what I am talking about.

the sender located near exhaust manifold, its part number is ACDELCO Part # 21377 passenger side
i used variable resistor( potentiometer) and did not measure but gauge move to hot when connected in series with gauge to ground when
i change the value of resistor the gauge change too
when i remove the resistor and ground the gauage
the gauge goes all way to hot
where is the Crankshaft position sensor in caprice1994 v8 4.3
IS IT NECESSARY TO REPLACE I NEVER CHANGE AND DO NOT KNOW MY IF
has one may this is cause
thanks for your help

Problem has to be with the sender then, according to what I could find you have the right one already, is the one you have a new one that you bought when the issue started?
Or is it the old one that was in there, and you have not bought a new one to replace it yet?
I'd not worry about the Crank Sensor right now, it would not cause any problems with the coolant temp sensor.

the problem started after i replace new disrebuter i thought it is only
wire but the mechanic told me sensor is bad i got the same one new
the other sensor connected to water pump works fine i can tell from the fan
switch off and on
finally i think i will buy new one but new brand not same as i have
thanks you for your help

Sometimes you can get a new sensor and it be bad, it does not happen a lot, but it is possible.
The AC Delco sensors are some of the best sensors to use in my opinion, most of the sensors the factory installed are usually AC Delco, or Delphi.
I am looking for other parts that say they are a replacement for 25037332, which is the OE part number, since you have already tried the AC Delco 21377 sender I won't list that one below.
I see a DELPHI Part # TS10075 , but I am not sure which sender it is meant to replace, they do not specify.
Automotive Aftermarket Catalog - MyCarParts
The following two senders say they are replacements for the OE Sender you are replacing.
AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 1T1048
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # TS253
You are very welcome, always happy to help, let us know how it goes when you replace the sender again.

Ok, so it sounds like the sender is responding to change.
But, unless they reversed the way the senders work vs ohms then I am a little confused, you should have seen more ohms of resistance when the sender tip was hot, opposed to more when it was cold, if you look at that chart, as you notice the ohms go up as the temperature goes down.
What was the resistors resistance value that you used to get the dash gauge to show hot?
Around a 50 ohm resistor should have it pegged almost all the way hot, and a 1450 ohm resistor should have the dash gauge most of the way to cold.
The fact that the wiring connector you added the resistor to made the gauge moves tells me that if you do have 2 senders, we at least have the right sender that works for the dash gauge.
Which means it has to be either the sender is the wrong one, or as JW said, you may have a short in the wiring harness plug for it.
I am trying to look over some diagrams of your motor, and it does look like you have 2 coolant temp senders as JW mentioned, one for the dash gauge, and one for the computer.
Where is this sender in question located on your motor, I am seeing 2 senders listed for one near the waterpump, ACDELCO Part # 2134396, and another ACDELCO Part # 213928
There is also a third sender part number listed, but this one appears to be located near the right side of the exhaust manifold, its part number is the one you mentioned ACDELCO Part # 21377
I'll attach a pic of the location of the one in question, and another pic of the one I am seeing that has 2 part numbers listed, I'll list part numbers in the pics to better help you.

thanks a gain
i replace another new tempreure sensor ac deloc #21377 i start the ignition
after few mins the gauge moved to the right and car sound better than before i open ac but after that the gauge went to cold a gain
i open the dash and intall another gauge and same probem
now do you think this a software problem?
i download tt data master free trial software i have cable and pc
does fix the problem if i try ?
thanks for your help
i find many threads on google search all of the have same problem but no
ans found yet

The dash gauge is separate from the ecm sensor, if you say that the fans work, the ecm and that whole side of the operation is functioning properly. If you know the gauge and sender are good the only thing left is the plug or wires. Or if you put pipe tape or something on it that can mess it up too

when i ground the wire from gauge the gauge goes all the way to full hot
thanks i understand from what you said no use to use software becouse
it is separate from ecm
but in dash board the gauge pluged in circuit bourd it is not seprate connection to the sensor !!! ?
