Default random misfire

2014 "random misfire" . No engine code on dash. I am thinking 3 possibilities. 1) vacuum leak 2) bad spark plug 3) Bad ignition coil.

I would think that it is not spark plug as that would be on every stroke? Therefore likely ignition coil or maybe less likely vacuum leak

It happens mostly at stop lights and at random.

Would ignition coil trip a code so vacuum leak more likely?

Is this on the 2014 Sonic?

No code at all?

What are the symptoms?

If there is a misfire, the PCM should be able to detect it. Next steps would be to swap the coil on the cylinder that is misfiring to another cylinder and vice versa. If the misfire follows the coil, you can be reasonably sure the coil is the problem. IF the misfire stays on the same cylinder, you can be pretty sure it is an issue at that cylinder, maybe the spark plug, low compression, or bad wiring to the coil.

The engine kind of "hickups" or shakes for split second as if engine doesn't have enough momentum to keep turning at stop light.

Unfortunately, the 2014 Sonic has one a single block ignition coil for all 4 cylinders so I can't swap coils.

I also noticed a bit of oil "sweating" around valve cover edge and in the screw hole for valve cover. Could this be part of the problem?

Also, Would changing the valve cover gasket suffice or should you replace the cover as well and the cover screws.

How often does it do this?

Oh yeah, just looked it up. That'* a weird way to do it, but probably assembles quickly!

Can you show a picture of this "sweating"?

Default oil sweating

Here is the pic of the oil "sweating" . There is about a drop of oil in the screw well in the middle of the photo.
