Angry Flooded 2019 Trail Boss

Recently Houston area flooded. I was driving my new Trail Boss is approx 9 inches of water, not at all fast, and the engine completely flooded. It was confusing since a Honda Civic made it through the water but I flooded in my new lifted truck designed to go off road. Now I need a new engine but currently there are no new engines in the country available. I am highly frustrated considering that this truck should have never flooded in that little bit of water! I am reaching out to yall to see if anyone has been aware of any design flaws with this engine or if anyone could explain how in the heck this happened. All the mechanics who have touched this truck are completely perplexed on how this actually happened. The water never even reached the rim of the truck! Also, if anyone knows how I can get my hands on a new engine that would be great! I have reached out to Chevy directly but there seems to be little to no help there.

Has anyone pulled the plugs and turned the engine over?

They did that and it was able to turn over but was knocking bad. Then the engine seized completely.

Likely fluid locked and damaged the crank.
Time for a new engine, but then again you may want to junk it. That flood water WILL cause problems for a LONG time.

I agree, flooded vehicles are a nightmare afterwards.

Do you have full coverage? If so, claim it as a loss.

Agreed, turn it in to insurance. This will typically go under comprehensive coverage.

This also opens up the possible option of a total loss if they can't get an engine.

There likely won't be any engines available for that vehicle except from GM just due to the age.

Did it have the factory air intake?

How fast did you go through the water?

How much throttle were you requesting of it at the time?

What size engine is it?

Yes it did have the factory intake. I wasn’t going fast at all and therefore wasn’t giving it much gas. It is the 5.3L V8.

Yeah it shouldn't have done that then. My 1985 Chevy 2WD would do 9" of water no problem. My 1984 LeSabre also, for that matter.
