❗❗ Class Action Lawsuit | Missing Standard Equipment
A legal claim is being made against GM for failing to address missing standard equipment in many documented cases regarding the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. The missing equipment is RPO CODE XVR: Surround Vision Recorder, which became a standard feature as of June 6, 2022 for all 2023 Escalades. Many vehicles have the SD slot, wiring harness and surround vision camera systems required for this feature but are missing the actual recorder. GM engineers have noted that only vehicles built from May 8, 2023 would have this as a standard feature and that retrofitting is not possible. The many 2023 Escalades on the road today, built before this date, are an evidence of their false claims in order to absolve themselves of the precedent it would set if they acknowledged the problem. As such, the claim will aim to force GM to acknowledge this issue in a class action, with the hope that it will trigger a recall on all 2023 Cadillac Escalades.

I'm on the fence as to whether the above post is:
- spam
- commercial advertising
- a scam of some sort (email us at this gmail address and then we'll work on you)
- an attempt at large-scale data gathering to be used to triangulate information on GMForum members
- some other thing that I haven't thought of.
. . . or maybe some combination of the above options. Either way, please don't do it any more.
There are several places inhttps://www.gmforum.com/introduction...-first-304557/ that the above post straddles or crosses a line. Please feel free to check it out.
Who are you? One disgruntled Escalade owner? A law firm? A scammer hive in India? I can't tell. Regardless, I can't leave this data aggregation channel open for members to blindly send information to some rando on the Internet. To that end, here is what I have chosen to do:
- obfuscated the posted email address
- obfuscated the linked email address behind the posted email address
- added a note regarding why I edited this post
- recorded the original configuration of this post for future reference
- left the thread open to allow you to post further explanation
If you would rather PM me directly, please feel free to do so.
I will be watching this thread. No response either in this thread and/or to me directly within 48 hours will get the thread deleted and the user banned.

I am one of many disgruntled 2023 Escalade owners who have had to run in circles, trying to resolve this missing standard equipment matter. There are threads on other forums with discussions from those who have experienced the same issue. I'm free for a phone call if you'd like. I'm open to any further questions you have. Thanks

Thanks for the response. No phone call will be necessary.
I looked around and can not find a reference to this feature being standard on the 2023 model year. I see no reference to it in their e-brochure, their copyright 2022 trimwalk document (.PDF attached), and only see a reference to it as an optional feature ( "If equipped" ) in the owner'* manual on Page 300:
I acknowledge the possibility that the e-brochure and the trimwalk document could have been edited to reflect this. I do not see any proof of this, but am just allowing for the possibility.
Regarding the following statement:
It is possible that this is a production efficiency situation where they have a single part that they mold for parts commonality and efficiency that can be used for this but still not have the feature. One similar situation would be the blank space where an optional 4x4 control would be installed. Another similar situation would be on my 2007 Saturn Outlook where the wiring exists for turn signal lights on my exterior rearview mirrors while this particular car was built without that option. One deer strike later, I replaced the broken mirror and its unbroken counterpart with junkyard units that include the turn-signal light and voila' the turn signal lights work on the mirrors. This is a common practice across many manufacturers.
Looking around online, I see your post in a couple of other places, and no other reference to this issue. I acknowledge that I have not performed an exhaustive search of the entire Internet, so I may have missed other references to this issue.
GMForum is here to allow the combined knowledge of its members to assist with vehicle issues and understanding where possible, and to make that information available to all who seek it. Please post a picture of your RPO decal so we can see the XVR code on it, and also post something that shows that this was a standard feature for the 2023 model year Cadillac Escalade. To be clear, I am not accusing anyone of anything, but rather I am taking this issue to the next logical troubleshooting step from my perspective.
Also, regarding the following:
Please post links to the other threads. This will help us (including members and non-members that are in the same situation) better understand the scope of the issue, possibly help with your effort, and communicate any potential outcomes.
Thanks!

It'* been just over 24 hours since my last post in this thread . . . and I've been thinking: Maybe some of the many other disgruntled 2023 Escalade owners can snap pictures of their build tags and post them here. Just a thought.
The goal would be to have a build tag show RPO code XVR while the respective vehicle does not have Surround Vision Recorder.
WAIT . . . I typed all of that then did some poking around online.
I think I just learned a new thing: It appears that 2018 and later GM may have taken away the RPO code sticker in favor of a QR code on the certification tag in the driver'* door jamb. Scan the QR code there and all of the RPO codes that the vehicle has will be displayed. This makes it easier, just screenshot it and post it here. Example below:
. . . or upload a clear picture and one of us could scan and post.
I just tried it on a picture of the door tags on a GM rental car that I had a few months ago and it works.

It has been over a week since we've seen anything.
Have you had a chance to pull your RPO codes from the QR code on your certification tag?
Can you post the list here?

Now it'* been over two weeks.
Have you given up on the lawsuit?
Did my explanation (above) solve the problem?
I'm sure the "many disgruntled 2023 Escalade owners" would love to see progress on this thread. I think they'd all rather go back to being gruntled again.
