Default what am I missing?

02 Century 3100 sfi
Auto, 53K
Im new to ICM ignition systems and the like but I know how to change plugs wires and an air filter...

But it would not fire after I did these tasks and so now I'm deep into the learning part of this brave new world.

Not having one I picked up a OBDII reader (Innova 3040c) and promptly wiped the DTC'*.
I did remember the P0300 code was there.

I did pull some codes later but realized they came from a reading I'd done while the Connector cables were off.

Fuel P is 50-55 (@ key on)
12+V @ 15amp fuse to dbl connector on back/pass corner of ICM
Igniters all in spec.
New:
Plugs
Plug wires
air filter
EGR (on general principles
Up O2
Down O2 ( black and white)
then finally...

a new ICM since I was getting no signal to the plugs.

Still at a loss for why the intermttent signal and why the total loss of firing/running after changing plugs, wires and an air filter.
(yes I've rechecked for vac leaks from the filter install)

Am I needing more of a scan tool to see whats happening when its cranking?
As it is I get no new codes on the reader.

Haynes is only so helpful...

Thanks

Rick

Keep it simple.....if it ran BEFORE you did these things then you have to carefully backtrack and see if you knocked something loose.

So all you did was replace plugs and wires, and an air filter? My first guess is did you route the correct wire to the correct coil terminal?

Then it wouldn't start? And you have no spark, so you replaced the ignition module?

You are talking about an intermittent signal, what signal are we talking about?

In the end the no start, random misfire problem was an intermittent OL in the ICM 12v supply line in the ICM plug.

Continuing on rather than starting a new thread.

We took the car through a cold start reboot drive cycle and improved performance by 80%. Still seemed very lazy about accellerating and wop is not really an option.
It drove in 3 much better than D (OD) but by the end of the drive it behaved in D as well. Gutlessly.

On restart it threw P0404
EGR connector pins read:

A B C D E

KOffEOff 7.8v 7.1v 7.5v 5.01v 12.8v
KOnEOff 34.9v 34.9v 34.9v 5.01v 12.8v
KOn ERun +/- vari .961v 4.9v

so if these show signal flow and I installed a new EGR valve I'm uncertain where to look next. Ideas?
