Does not look all that bad in headlight shot.
Drop the pan. Have a new filter & gasket ready..look in pan for small particles & take photo on magnet etc.
On my PA it took 3 pan drops every 20k mikes to get it real clean again,
I think the previous owner never changed the fluid at 78k miles when I got it.
I do dex 6 now every 40 k miles.

Ok ik im kinda late but i decided to drive it a little more before dropping the pan.. But today before droping the pan.. I disconnected the "fluid outlet line to the radiator" and ran the engine while pouring new fluid into the tranny untill the fluid started coming out clear and shut it off. Then i dropped the pan and let the fluid drain. (Thts why the fluid looks fresh) but i did take a few pics of the magnet! (Down below) changed the fluid, even added a can of trans tune in the mix as recommended. And the problem is still there... And now i also feel kind of a judder befor shifting out of 3rd

Sounds like it time to stick a fork in it. It has a clutch or valve body issue. Have any buddies that work for a trans shop? If you take it out you should be able to find someone who can bench it for 800-1000 bucks including parts. If you have the transmission shop do all the work it could run up into the 1800 range. If you have a clean work space and deicent tools you could rebuild it yourself for 400-600 in parts depending on what you need once your in there. There are some good videos on YouTube with step by step instructions on how to rebuild the 4t65.

both times i have had to have that trans rebuilt, once in my bonnie, once in my old grandprix, i found places that would do it all for a thousand. they are "volume shops" and do tons of them a week. the trick is to call a ton of places and dont be afraid to expand your search, the one was 45 minutes away, the other i got lucky was only 20 minutes

Thats what i figured.. Ive never pulled a trans out let alone rebuild one.. Think ill just order a Reman & pull the engine & trans then swap it on the floor.. In my garage... Hopefully this goes easy... ill call around a bit first to check prices on rebuilding it. Thanks...
