Trans: hard shift
Happy New Years to all.
My wifes 2000 Buick Century, 3.1 engine, 4 speed auto with 190 ths KMS. started to shift hard between all upshifts last night. Fluid is really clean. The shifts are noticebly harder... clunky and there seems to be a whine comming from engine bay.
Down shifts are smooth. Shifting manually is also harsh.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

If your going to drop the trans pan and change the fluid and filter, you may want to take the extra step and drop the shift accumulator. Not sure what trans you have, but it should still be there. Open that up and clean the cylinder walls with some fine sand paper, perhaps 800 grit. Just a little to scuff it up. I've fixed several transmissions with very harsh shifting that way.

Thanks for your responces.
The tranny just started having this issue last night and have not drove it yet today.
Fluid and filter was done 100 th KMS ago, will start with that on Monday and see if there is a difference.
I have not noticed any slipping but the wife was in the car with me/its her car so I didnt try any "aggressive" driving to check for slippage. I will take her car out alone tomorrow and "test" it.
Thanks
