Hello,
I had forgotten my laptop at a friend'* home so wasn't able to respond. I took my battery to the shop and was told that the battery was bad after being tested. I have bought a new battery. They had one that was 680 cold cranking amps and 730 CCA. Since the original battery was 5XX CCA, I was hesitant to go with 730 (in case it is too powerful for electronics in the car) so I went with the 680. I hope to install it tomorrow...meanwhile, I have been using the Malibu to get around. Will report after I install the battery.

Thanks.

You could put a 1 trillion CCA battery in it if they made such an animal.
12 volts is 12 volts.

Ouch!! I just put in a new battery and no change. Just hear a click when trying to start. Also I get a message on the screen to service the charging system. I have also had a message to pull down the driver'* windown/up driver'* window which I did. I am baffeled.
The car was running perfect and would start first time every time including remotely.. It was parked outside for just a couple of cold days.
I get the battery light and check engine light on dash board.

Are you sure the cables are clean and tight?

Yes, they appear clean and tight.. I just tightened them on new battery. Lights and all electronics in the car seem to work fine.

It is hard on this vehicle to test if adequate power is reaching the starter. If so, then I can exclude the electronics upto the starter and then I can isolate that it is at starter or the engine?
