start clicking

Carfixer007, How is it that a bad battery suck power if I have tried to start the car by directly connecting the jumper cables from good battery from my Malibu directly to terminal cables on the verano and the verano cables are not connected to verano battery. This didn't work for me either.
An hour ago, I tried to jump start normally after having cables connected and Malibu (good battery) running for half hour and instead of getting repeat clicking when I tried to start, I just get one click.

Because cold cranking amps -- and the "starting and charging" diagnosis guide in my gm lesabre garage manual.
dead battery is a common problem when weather gets cold. My battery usually last only 3-5 years so I've decided to start buying higher quality.
Most autoparts stores will test your battery to see if accepts a charge and then charge the battery for you at no cost.
For my issue, the first thing I did was disconnect the battery. Then I checked all of the connections at the starter and battery and grounds -- clean and tight of course. Then I had the battery replaced. Then I checked the cables, then the starter was that last thing.

Hi ,
Thanks for your reply. I just don't understand why people are leaning towards battery replacement. Shouldn't the jump start from another car work as it is largely using the battery from the other car? Or should it not have started when I bypassed the verano battery and used the new battery from my chev Malibu? I hate to replace the battery if it is not the problem as it is $275. Is the Malibu battery much smaller in power?

How many volts do you have across your battery? Keep it hooked up and try starting it while observing the voltage. What happens?

If you really mean that you took a known-good battery out of the Malibu and installed it in the Verano with tight connectors then that changes things . . . and I'd possibly suspect the starter is bad.

It is entirely likely that is has been in pretty bad shape for a while and daily driving has brought it back from the edge over and over for months and you were unaware . . . and the warm weather helped.

With a dead battery, the situation is greatly worsened, but I believe carrfixer007 didn't know that you had it disconnected when he mentioned that it sucks the life out of everything.

Thanks for your replies. I had a friend come over with volt meter. He said the battery was fine. He also said the power is getting to starter selenoid . He tried to turn the crank shaft by attaching a socket and getting access to it by wheel well but was unable to turn it. Any ideas now as to what it could be with this information. There is enough oil in the engine and the oil appears good (not cloudy)
