Default Power trunk release on 2002 Lesabre.

When I press the button on the key fob OR the button on the driver'* door panel the horn beeps 2 times and the trunk doesn't open. I hear the relay (#52) clicking in the rear fuse box when I press the button. It'* a 2002 Buick Lesabre Limited with 144k miles.

I'd put a meter on the connector to the trunk release and see what happens when you or a helper push those buttons.

I have power at the latch. I suspect a bad motor. I'm getting another latch on Ebay.

Just a thought..Have you tried to re-synchronize the fob?
Try pushing in both the lock & unlock buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until it beeps, then see if it works to pop trunk then.

That didn't work. The trunklatch is damaged. The cover tab is not hooked to the base at the top. I ordered one off Ebay.

Cool looking forward to hearing if the new latch fixes it.

I received the latch from Ebay today. It worked great. 50 bucks well spent as the junkyards around here didn't show any.

Just a follow up to the first sentence of this post. The horn would beep twice when I use the factory key fob. The car has a remote start which the seller did not tell me about. Regarding the fact that the title wasn't in the seller'* name (he told me his uncle had given him the car) I believe he was just a "curbstone" dealer looking to make a quick flip. I got a great deal because the car had the check engine light on for a P0102 code. A 68 dollar HITACHI MAF cured the problem and the car easily passed emissions testing with ALL (including EVAP) readiness monitors complete. The seller was asking 1900 for a freshly detailed Lesabre Limited w/heads up display and all functions working. I made him an offer of 1600 and he took 1500. The only thing that didn't work was the passenger side rear window which I eventually repaired by replacing the regulator which was cheap and easy ($18 on Amazon).

I love Craigslist as I have had good luck buying and selling cars through them.
