Carfixer007, shouldn't it be terminals B and E for Sol B?

Yes....that is correct. My mind missed a gear. Happens more and more these days.

I'm a little late to the party.

I see (1) transaxle works fine a lot then (2) work done topside (water pump) then (2) more work done topside (oil pressure sensor) then (4) shortly afterwards the transaxle goes into limp. Awful big coincidence.

Isn't the solenoid combination for 3rd gear: both solenoids UNenergized

. . . ? . . . which would happen if the wire harness toward the transaxle was broken/disturbed/etc.

So, topside maybe wiring got moved broken etc. during repairs and that is causing the issue. I don't see in the thread above where this aspect has been evaluated yet. Maybe it'* worth a shot before getting any deeper into the other potentials . . . ?

this thread accounts a run in with code p1670 with transmission in limp mode. It ended up being a fuse, which could be explained by a power steering pump being dropped on things that don't like to have power steering pumps dropped on them.

And with that being said, I wonder if the rest is possible fallout from things not getting power they should.

I'm not sure it'* a coincidence since it was fine until a few days after the work and then it went into limp mode.
Also, the solenoid is powered along with the temp sensor, tcc and the A solenoid so if it was the wiring to them it would be a problem with them all.
That'* my thinking.

rjolly87, just want to point out that in that particular article, the early indication was that the problem was the 5C fuse, but final result was that there was a short internal to the transaxle which was causing the problem.

This thread is my first post on this site and I want to acknowledge all of the great people who participate on this website. There seems to be a very sincere and genuine desire to help others on this site and that is really really nice and helpful for a novice like me.

I appreciate the wiring diagrams provided by carfixer007. I am having a couple of problems with them however. The diagrams are very similar to those contained in the Haynes Repair Manual. The Haynes does not give the PCM pin connector numbers - the diagram provided by carfixer007 appears to give a pin number, e.g., A1, but I have no reference as to which connector on the PCM or how the pins are numbered. There isn't anything on the internet that I can find with pin number diagrams except at Auto Zone and those numbers don't correspond with any numbers on the diagrams. Which brings me to a point of concern:

I cannot find a definitive answer as to where the PCM is actually located. Not that I mind the work of looking - I just don't want to do wasted work. I have found where the PCM is in the engine compartment under the air filter, but I have also found that it is under the dash, passenger side, behind the glove box. Anyone know for sure?

I think CathedralCub may have a point in that he confirms a troubleshooting point I read a few days ago: Was there any work done on the vehicle just prior to the current problem starting? I might have been misleading, but the "limp mode" was within minutes of operating time from the time the water pump was replaced and the oil pressure sensor being replaced, although those minutes were a day or so later than the water pump repair.

Which brings me to another point on the wiring diagrams: I can't find the oil pressure sending unit on either set of wiring diagrams (Haynes' or carfixer007'*). I would assume the wiring would go to the PCM, but which pin at the PCM? I do want to confirm that the wiring for the oil pressure sensor was not damaged when the power steering pump broke the sensor. Knowing where the wires run to would be a great help.
