Yeah, glean what you can and use common sense to troubleshoot the system. The flow charts are not the best.

Don't try to turn the motor by hand, can strip gears.....just pop the silver linkage out of the arm to the temp door.......then move the temp door by hand to full heat and take some duct tape to hold it there, or tie it somehow....

If the actuator does not move, disconnect the harness to the actuator and do the test on the harness to determine if it'* the signal to the actuator or the actuator itself....

Should have bat voltage at 10, good ground at 7, and variable voltage at 8 when you vary the temp on the control head with ignition in run position.....if you have all three, it'* the actuator....

Oh wow....yes...do not turn motor by hand...I missed that post by you. The flow chart for this is pretty good. I think you can follow it and be OK.

Which tool is probably best for removing the nylon pin?

It'* old nylon and if it breaks I'm in a world of hurt.

I did accidentally move it back and forth one time.

I can tell you that the air is warm, but not hot, and there seems to be some air coming from the heater vents, as well as the ones for the windshield.

I'm not sure which style they were back then. Can you snap a photo of it and we can help.

You squeeze the tabs in the bottom of the clip and it will come right out. If you change the temperature with the key in run position does the motor work the door?

I was not aware that the clip is spit at the top and very little force is required to release the threaded rod.

When I released the threaded rod, the arm for the control flap (valve) went to the hot position.

I turned on the engine and tried the cold to hot slide control. The motor did not move and made no sounds.

When I selected the various buttons, nothing changed. The system remained stuck in windshield with some air diverted to the floor.

I am enclosing a photo of the vacuum manifold stack.
