Default No heat from 1995 Buick LeSabre

I got the LeSabre running again after a year and a half hiatus.

The heater does not heat. When I press the buttons to select, vent, or windshield, or blend, or heater, etc., there is no sound to indicate that a door has moved to choose a different passageway.

It is also possible that the heater core is clogged - it is the same core that the car shipped with.

The blower works and changes speeds according the control slider position.

I checked the bleed valve at the top of the engine and just got liquid, not steam or air. The car was running and at operating temperature.

Any thoughts on where to look first for a problem?

Thanks,

wnlewis

Put your hands up and see if the air is directed to the correct vents. NO.....Start there.

The only air that comes out, comes out of the openings for the windshield.

When I select the vent button, the air continues to come out of the openings for the windshield. No air comes out at the mid-dash registers.

Both heater hoses are warm in the engine compartment near the firewall.

The radiator is warm, as is the outlet hose at the top of the radiator.

Your doors are not working. I'll get the service info and be back within an hour.

Do you have the automatic or manual controls?

I had the same problem on a '97 Olds LSS (same platform as your LeSabre), which had electronic climate control. The problem was some of the nipples had collapsed on the manifold into which all the little vacuum tubes connect. It seems to be a fairly common problem. The solution was pretty simple. I got rid of the manifold, got some silicone vacuum line with a slightly larger interior diameter than the car'* vacuum lines, cut two-inch lengths and pressed the ends of the lines into them, matching up the colors--white to white, yellow to yellow, pink to pink, etc. Everything worked great after that. Honestly, the hardest part was getting to the manifold to replace the lines, which was located behind the glove box. I wish I could remember the exact size of the vacuum line I used but I did this about six or seven years ago.

The controls are push button, with a slide switch for temperature.

I believe it is a single zone automatic (C67).

The HVAC programmer would control the vac to the vac actuators.....but the temp valve is controlled by an electrical actuator....

I would remove the hoses(clamp them first) to the heater core, and see if you can easily blow through it in both directions, using another hose.......if you can't, back flush it.....

That is my first inclination. A vacuum leak due to cracked, hard plastic tubes.

So it sounds like I may need to pull the dash.

Or can it be done reasonably easily from under - lying on your back standing on your head?

Thanks, wnlewis

Cleaning out the heater core would be a good idea anyway.

Then check the HVAC programmer, and temp valve, and electrical actuator?
