No brake or turn signal lights? 1994 Regal
As the topic states! WE do have hazard lights and you can her the relay clicking somewhere behind the dash.
Turn signals and brakes do nothing. We checked all of the fuses and they are good. We checked the stop light switch down at the brake peddle and it does have power and closes connections when the peddle is pressed. There are 2 switches, one up higher and the l0ower one that has 2 connectors. I believe the lower one has the stop light switch and cruise control switch on it. The upper switch, I could not reach. But the cruise switch would open the contacts when the peddle is pressed while the other closed the contacts.
The turn signal flasher, When I use a light tester, it has power to one side. When I probe the other connector, the light is dim but it causes the flasher to activate and switch off and on.
All of the bulbs are good...
Where do I go from here?
Thanks
Anna

Also the park lights do work and so does the center brake light in the rear window. The turn indicator lights on the dash work when the hazard lights are turned on but nothing from the turn signal switch.

This should help.

Thanks Carfixer007 for the reply.
I am not the best with wiring automotive wiring schematics but from what I see and understand so far,,
1-Park, hazard, brake, and turn signal lights all use the same grounds. So if there is a ground problem, the park and hazard lights would not work?
2- The center light in the window has its own ground and the power circuit is direct from the brake switch circuit.
3- The stop light circuit runs through the turn signal switch
4- The hazard switch circuit bypasses the turn signal switch
As of now I would think the problem is in the turn signal switch itself?

Your reasoning is good. Does the cruise work?

Is there a relay for the brake and turn signal? The wires on the brake light switch and flasher are way too small to carry the load of the bulbs.
Thanks

We haven't driven the car to see if the cruse works... There are two switches in the bracket that holds the brake light switch. The lower switch has 2 electrical connectors going into it.one is normally open and the other is normally closed. both have power. I was guessing that one was for the cruise and the other for the brakes.. Also guessing that the switch up high with a single connector is for the abs?
Thanks

well after more research online looking at switches and the wiring diagram. I believe that the switch with 2 connectors is for the stop lights and ABS while the second switch above with one connector is fro the cruise control..
Also I see that there is a multi function switch and a turn signal switch and they are separate parts. Therefore it would be the turn signal switch that needs replacing... I It would probably be wise for me to check the connector that comes from the turn signal switch..
If there is no stop light or turn signal relay, is there a lighting module of some kind?
Thanks

I wish that there was an edit button so I could add these posts together but I do not see one.
I have a question about how the brake lights and hazard lights are supposed to work. If you have the hazard lights turned on and press the brake peddle, the hazard lights should stop blinking and stay on constantly, correct?
I ask because mine are not. Pressing the brake peddle has no effect on the function of the hazard lights.
In the modified diagram below I traced the stop light circuit in red and the hazard circuit in green. The orange line,, When the hazard lights are on and you press the brake peddle, the orange line is providing a 12 volt feedback to hazard switch terminal and that should override the flasher?

Thought I would update the thread.
Thanks for all the help Carfixer007! We just got around to changing out the turn signal switch and that solved the problem. Good thing we have a spare 94 regal to pull parts from. It makes it easier having one to practice on!
