New guy here looking at 07 Buick lucerne
hello people, I have owned many GM cars in my life (still have my 1986 GN) and looking at a 2007 Buick Lucerne that my coworker'* father own'*. It is a 3.8L CXL model (Dark red) with 62K on it, garaged its entire life. Carfax shows excellent Maintenace history with a water pump replacement at 49k and fuel pump replacement at 46k. My question to you is this model reliable?? I am aware of the backseat/fusebox issue and plastic coolant elbows but once in awhile somebody in the internet world mentions of "electrical gremlins" and I am not sure what they are talking about. I want a reliable and comfortable car to drive from NY to FL twice a year. My 2007 camry is reliable but not comfortable for those long trips. He is offering me the car for $6000. Any help is appreciated. I do not expect this car to be perfect but do not want insane electrical issues either
thanks!!
Ralph
thanks!!

I believe that would be a good car. Yes, they are known to have electrical gremlins that are hard to trace if the person tracing isn't experienced and informed, but at the same time, this one has been garaged and maintained all its life. Keep it garaged and maintained and you'll get a lot of life out of it. Often, the electrical gremlins in these get traced to a moisture issues in the carpet and under the back seat.
The 3800 is a great engine. Keep maintenance items up to date and change oil every 3,000-4,000 miles and it will last approximately forever.
I have heard that the headlight bulbs are a royal pain to change.
For what you're talking about here, it sounds like it would be a great car, and the price is really good.
Welcome aboard!
