Without knowing more about your symptoms, I agree with Mike. Corroded terminals and wires look a lot like a failed starter. I just had to deal with my 1997 LeSabre with same issue. Turn the key to start and barely get a click and no more, often accompanied by the dome light going out and the radio losing its programming. Five minutes with a wrench and a wire brush (on the battery connections) and voila no more problem.

When you change your starter, hopefully you are disconnecting the battery. When you reconnect, everything makes some contact. A few starts and heat in the connector and maybe contact is lost. A few bumps and same thing. Then the starter doesn't work any more as above and it looks like the starter died (again).

What is the symptom of your starter failure? Like you turn the key and . . . ?

Yeah I'd say clean the terminals and cables with a wire brush if you haven't already. Then make sure they are bolted on tightly. In mine when this happens I can usually get out, move the positive terminal around a bit, and then it will start and run fine a couple more times (until it wiggles to a bad spot again). When it'* like this I make a point to clean and tighten as soon as I have a chance.
