OK, if you installed the lock cylinder, then like I said you should have installed a large screw driver or needle nose(expand it once in), to see if your mechanism would rotate......if it didn't, you would know it wasn't the lock cylinder......

You do not have to remove the column.....you will have to remove the bowl of the column and you will need the special tool remover for the tilt mechanism.....in over 20 years of working on a column, I have never run into the sector gear or rack breaking on it'* own....someone popping the lock cylinder to steal a car is another story....

Where should I look?
It was supposed to be a link to a Youtube search, but the robots might have broken it with their claw hands, laser eyes, and flaming nostrils.

Go to Youtube and search: GM steering column disassembly

A search will not yield the results when done through a link. The database needs to be quarried from the web page with the search form.

I can cut the search URL out and paste it in a different browser and get same results. I can change the terms after search_query= and get the desired results. It'* something broken about how the robots process the link here on the board, probably the claw hands.

Most database queries need to be submitted from the form for the search term. When you hit the submit or enter button the form has a field that points to the database. It could be the webpage has the database path as part of the URL but that is not very secure. Then again we are talking about YouTube and I'm not sure how secure they try to be.

It'* https so secure enough. Either way, Youtube uses open query searches so people can share easily (increasing their viewership therefore revenue). Forms like you are talking about would be more post-credential that public access these days.

Since I installed the new lock cylinder, it will have to come back out again. Plus as you say the special tool for the tilt mechanism. It'* warming back up again so I plan to get back to work on the car tomorrow and Saturday. Thanks for the advice.

Let'* try this again from the the correct thread. The rack and sector gears and spring; where can they be purchased? I Checked directly with Dorman. 83211 does NOT fit in a tilt column in a 1995 Buick LeSabre with the 3.8l V6.
