to anyone wondering of a safe way to get the lock ring off to access the fuel pump

1.
use Fuel tank sending unit wrench Kent-Moore J-39765

2.
brass drift with brass,plastic,deadblow hammer to nudge off - no sparks

its normally the oring in the quick connector dried up or dry rotted, something like that
