Engine won't turn over
I have an 02 rendezvous cxl with approx 166000 it has been out of commission for approx 18 months due to a leaky lower intake gasket and lack of time to fix it. it has been stored inside a closed garage. i have finally gotten the time in the last month to finish the repairs needed to get it back on the road. charged the NEW battery and when i go to turn it over it won't even move the engine. it was running fine except for a major external leak prior to parking it, it had shown no signs of any internal leaking. any ideas on what i can do to get it moving?

Do you hear a click or do you hear the starter drive engage the flexplate?
If you don't, is there power to the "*" terminal(purple wire) of the starter solenoid, when the key is in the crank position(use a test light)?
If no, put your hand on the crank relay and have someone turn the key to the crank position....do you feel it click?
If no, check all fuses?
Have you tried to start the vehicle in neutral?
Have you tried to manually rotate the engine by putting a wrench on the crank bolt?

Do all the electronics power up inside the car, when you turn the ignition key forward? (i.e. have you verified the new, charged battery is indeed putting out voltage?)
The starter could also be seized up, if the vehicle sat untouched for 18 months. Try tapping on the starter housing a few times (assuming it is metal) underneath the vehicle, using a small hammer. Sometimes that can knock loose internal corrosion on the starter motor'* moving parts and get it spinning again when you turn the key.
