Crazy 02 Century 3.1
Hope someone can help, got this car a couple weeks ago cheap, it had a bad head gasket. I replaced both head gaskets, what the problem now is car sometimes won't crank! I finally replaced the starter with a known good starter, I still have same problem, I cleaned batt. connections, but here is the strange part, while trying to get it to crank the head lite would flash off & on, now while driving last night put lites on high beam & they went out for like 10 secounds then back on, & they do this only on high beam, also while trying to start I have to try several time before it will crank, sometimes after I release from start it will start cranking!

You've got a bad ground. Check the grounds at the engine/tranny bolts.

The bolts and studs that mount the bell housing to the engine. Look at this area and be sure you don't have a ground that wasn't bolted down.

That'* the most likely place to miss a ground on R&R of engine.
Let me know what you find.

I got posts mixed up. Check around the head for grounds that are not connected. Make sure they are all clean and tight.

Thanks the heads makes more sense because they have been off the rear head gasket had been replaced before I replace it so maybe it wasn't hooked the last time & I didn't see it

I don't think there are any grounds, where you would do a head job....as stated, most are located on the studs of the bell housing of the tranny.....
I assume that you have checked the battery terminals, that they are clean of any corrosion and are tight?
Since you got this vehicle just two weeks ago, did the former owner have problems with the starter?
Could be a problem with the P/N switch, crank relay, underhood fuse block(connections not tight), could be a problem with the Passkey system(does your ignition key have a black resistor on the shaft?), etc.
Couple things to check:
When you attempt to start the vehicle, just turn the key to the "on" position(not crank), and observe the SECURITY LIGHT in the cluster......it should come on for three to five seconds, then go out.....if it goes out, then turn to crank and see if the car cranks over......if it doesn't go out, that is your problem(usually a bad connection/broken wire going to the lock cylinder)....
If the light goes out, have someone touch the crank relay in the under hood fuse block.....when you turn the key to crank, that relay should click.....if it doesn't, then that is your problem.......easiest thing to try is take the palm of your hand and hit the fuse block a few times, lightly....then try again.......if it starts, then you may have a loose block in the fuse block.....looking straight down at the fuse block, you should see 6 screws, usually they are torx.....2 for each block.......try tightening them, they may be loose......another possibility is the crank relay.....try swapping with another relay in the fuse block, and try again.....
If it still does not crank over, then you must check if you are getting power at the purple wire going to the starter solenoid, when the Key is in the crank position......if there is no power there and there is power out of the relay(back probe the yellow wire, terminal G, at the P/N switch, with a ground test light....should light when relay clicks), then you may have a P/N switch problem......try shifting into neutral, foot on brake, and starting......
