I dont know if its acceptable to lift this old thread up but im doing it anyway.
Fuel filter got changed (at last) last week to a metal one and new fuel hoses.
The car has been working fine, no engine problems. Only little annoying problem that i haven't been able to solve.
When you drive normally and for example stop for traffic lights, engine decides to die. Not always, but frequently anyway.
You can drive it but you have to use left leg for braking and keep a little throttle at all times to ensure it stays running.
I think there is a little vacuum leak but i haven't checked that yet, I fixed it last summer but there were no problem with it staying running when the leak was present.
The vacuum leak was brake booster vacuum hose at carb. It needs to be replaced entirely
Any advice from the wise people of GMforum?

I'd adjust the idle screw slightly higher. Do it in small increments and see how it works. If the idle speed in gear is around 550-600 then you should be good.
You also might want to check the vacuum advance.
